A certain level of pressure can be good to ensure motivation however when pressure becomes stress, the mind can often have trouble coping with its onslaught. The root of stress can often be difficult to understand. This is where meditation comes into play as a resolution to physiological and psychological stress.

 

Stress can develop from multiple sources such as - from work pressures, often cited as too much work to complete in too little time or can develop within family life. Stress can develop from moving house, pregnancy, old age, tiredness, physical strain, raising children, bodily reactions and illness, addictions - smoking, drinking, over eating, under eating etc, the environment where you live or even lack of sleep.



Cause & Symptoms of stress :


Family life and or work seems to be a frequent factor in relation to stress for many people. Some common workplace factors that can contribute to stress include:

 

Excessive workload

Resonsibility without authority

Insufficient opportunities for change or workload balance

Low managerial support

Poor work relations with colleagues or manager

Personality conflicts

Bullying, harassment and discrimiation

Poor communications

Continual or rapid change to your role

Insufficient training

Lack of job security

Frustrated career development

 

There are many different symptoms of stress such as 

Comfort eating

Loss of appetite

Increased smoking, caffeine or alcohol

Irritability and aggression

Forgetfullness

Moodiness and sulking

Insomnia

Withdrawal from social contact

Obsessive behaviours

Crying
